The startup Ecosystem in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Creating micro-enterprises at the village and mandal level spreads wealth and prosperity in the society. With vast agricultural lands in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, dependence on traditional crops like paddy, maize, corn should be reduced and cultivation of commercial crops like fruits, vegetables and cereals should be encouraged by creating logistics network by both Government and Private Enterprises.

With ample opportunities around the world, creating agri-based micro-enterprises at the village and mandal level in the twin Telugu language-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will unleash the unlimited potential of the rural youth and create financial freedom for their families. It also creates opportunities in agri-tourism and in financial inclusion.

The presence of reputed National institutes like NIRDPR, NIMSME, MSME-DI, ICRISAT, NSIC & CFTRI at Hyderabad, assures availability of knowledge for entrepreneurship enthusiasts. These prestigious institutes have been imparting knowledge since the formation of the state in 1956 and have produced hundreds of Enterprises across both the states.

The Horticulture Departments, Department of Agriculture and various Agricultural Research Centers spread all over the states are also spreading this awareness and imparting training on a regular basis.

The startup ecosystem gained traction from 2015 onwards with the introduction of popular campaigns like StartupIndia and StandupIndia by the Government of India. Identifying the enormous potential in the youth of India, the Government of India with the research support from Niti Ayog, launched schemes like PM Mudra Yojana – https://www.mudra.org.in/ and PM FME – https://pmfme.mofpi.gov.in/ to build grass root enterprises which would later become SMEs.

These schemes spread across India rapidly because of JAM trinity – Jandhan Account + Adhaar + Mobile connection. The digitization of the application and training process on PMEGP –https://www.kviconline.gov.in/pmegpeportal/pmegphome/index.jsp proved to be very beneficial for enthusiastic small entrepreneurs. Due to this concentrated efforts, about 40 crore new micro and small enterprises were created all over the country, which helped faster financial inclusion of such a large portion of the population.

Now, with the expansion of markets beyond state and National borders, the time has come for the optimum utilization of resources, skill development, and networking. Both the State Governments of two states and the Central Government are encouraging fresh graduates to take up business through various incubation and acceleration programs.

The schemes launched by Government of India over that last decade, particularly in the post-harvest management like PMFME focuses solely on aggregation and distribution of food produce at mandi level through FPOs and Farmers Co-operatives. Other financing schemes launched by Agricultural Infrastructure Fund – https://agriinfra.dac.gov.in/ – focuses on creation of community assets like cold storage facilities, ware houses and reefer vehicles, aimed at reducing post-harvest losses.

For fostering micro and small enterprises, we at TENN India Business services, offer startup consulting services, conduct awareness programs on Small and Micro Enterprises to rural youth through digital platforms and through physical workshops, and guide interested participants to start and run their enterprises efficiently and professionally so that going forward they can create more opportunities in their surroundings and become mature small and medium enterprises.
